Abstract

The current omnipresent economic crisis has heavily impacted the European Union. Thus the concept,missions and goals of the European Union are exposed to a very close and critical scrutiny influencedby practice and pragmatic considerations. Is the stronger integration of a sui generis international organizationwhich is traditionally supporting agriculture politics capable of reflecting and addressing challengesof our post-modern global society, particularly the use of information technologies? Neither the Internet ingeneral nor domains and domain names are governed by a unified legal framework replete with a strong enforcement.The top level domain of the European Union, TLD .eu, represents a project distant from the standardizedand even closer European Union ideas and still truly supporting growth and employment, and ultimatelyable to tackle the economic and financial crisis.
