NOTES ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF KOREAN LAW

Abstract


Foreigners may find the Korean legal system difficult to understand because it has its own unique and traditional legal history and a system different from those of Western and other countries. Although the traditional Korean legal system has no separation of powers and the judicial function was incorporated with the executive function, Korea had its own legal system even before the modern judicial system was first introduced to Korea at the end of the nineteenth century.
