Abstract
In the first part the article describes the role of ceremonial speeches in the society, especially in connection with the Faculty of Law of the Charles-Ferdinand University. The focus of the author is on the life and personality of St. Ivo, who is a patron of lawyers. The article then describes the content of these speeches that were held in praise of the patron and gives examples from historical sources from the beginning of the 18th century.
